433 Students and Faculty from SCMIRT, SCHMTT, SIICS & SIFT Participate in an Innovative Experiential Learning Initiative

Suryadatta Education Foundation organised an innovative project-based experiential learning initiative, \u2018Mall Minds: Exploring Business, People and Technology Around Us\u2019, at Pavilion Mall, Pune. Bringing together education, field research, interdisciplinary collaboration and entertainment, the initiative witnessed the participation of 433 students and faculty members from Suryadatta College of Management Information Research and Technology (SCMIRT), Suryadatta College of Hospitality Management, Travel and Tourism (SCHMTT), Suryadatta International Institute of Cyber Security (SIICS) and Suryadatta Institute of Fashion Technology (SIFT).
Learning Beyond the Classroom<\/b>

Speaking about the initiative, Prof. Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya, Founder President & Chairman, Suryadatta Education Foundation, <\/b> said:<\/p>

\u201cLearning beyond the classroom connects students with the real world. Students should observe real-life situations, ask questions and explore new solutions. Through \u2018Mall Minds\u2019, we provide students with an opportunity to experience the marketplace firsthand. How does a customer think? How is technology used? How is service delivered? When students experience these aspects themselves, they develop decision-making abilities and leadership qualities. The interdisciplinary participation also enabled students to interact, collaborate and understand diverse perspectives. As part of the initiative, students were assigned various project-based field research themes, <\/b> including:<\/p>

    Students observed customer behaviour, retail practices, store layouts, customer service, brand presentation and various business operations. They collected information through photographs, observations, notes and other supporting evidence and analysed their findings as part of their projects.<\/p>

    Interdisciplinary Collaboration Across Four Institutions<\/b><\/p>

    The participation of students and faculty from SCMIRT, SCHMTT, SIICS and SIFT <\/b> created an interdisciplinary learning environment where students experienced the interconnection of management, commerce, technology, computer science, cyber security, hospitality, fashion and design.
    Working in groups under the guidance of the respective institute heads, students carried out observation, information gathering and analysis on various themes.<\/p>

    Learning Meets Entertainment<\/b><\/p>

    Adding an element of entertainment to the experiential learning initiative, a special screening of the movie \u2018Hanuman Ansh\u2019 was organised at PVR INOX, Pavilion Mall.<\/b><\/p>

    The screening provided students with an opportunity to reflect on values such as courage, determination, discipline, humility, responsibility, loyalty and service. <\/b> These values were also connected with contemporary management competencies such as service leadership, ethical decision-making and effective communication.<\/p>

Around 50 NSS volunteers actively participated under the theme \u201cYouth-led Water Conservation and Development of Fallow Land for Sustainable Development.\u201d\n\nVolunteers carried out cleanliness drives, tree plantation, awareness rallies on social issues, health initiatives, village surveys, and Shram Sanskar activities, winning the appreciation of local villagers.
